Hi,Hi,Hi! Another week of travel is behind us. When we left you last we still had two more days to hang around the City of Brotherly Love. So on the first day we met Brad's Sister Donna and Brother-In-Law Bob at an Indian restaurant in Collingswood, NJ for lunch. We walked the town and went back to our Coach and gave them a two-bit tour of our living space. It was great seeing them! Then that night we met our old and dear friends of over 45 years Bob and Dee Terry at a local restaurant. We ate, we drank, we were very merry. They became our first guests to visit and party back at the RV this trip. The next day we went to Reading Terminal Market in downtown Philly for some eats and then to the Phillies game. Brad was totally in his element. Great Game! Great Win! Great Fun! 3 Phillies homers, a squeeze play double that scored two runs and yes...Kathy was bored to $hit but was a great sport.
On Sunday, we drove south to a Harvest Host spot at Midnight Oil Brewing Company in Delaware for an overnight stay. Kathy was drinking local seltzers there and I was doing ciders and lagers. We ate some local cheeses, had a pizza from a food truck, and most important, we watched the Eagles game. We had a great start to the NFL football season. Kathy was a little weirded out being in an empty parking lot over night even with me protecting her. Go figure! The next day, we drove about two hours to Maryland where we're currently staying for a five day run.
We chose this Capitol KOA Campground because it's a half hour from DC, 25 minutes from Baltimore and 20 minutes from Annapolis. The first three days we toured each. We did Baltimore first. We drove to Fells Point and toured the Inner Harbor. The city is very pretty, cobblestone streets, the architecture is very colonial, it has lots of character and mucho aqua (that's lots of water). It was very hot that day. We stopped at Koopers Tavern for a refreshing beverage (only one) and then drove around the city before heading back to the RV.
The next day we too the MARC, the Maryland transit system train into DC. we were a bit disappointed at all the closures and non-touring situation closures. We weren't able to get into the Capita, The Senate or House of Representative buildings due to either Covid, Jan 6th, or both? Most of the Smithsonian's were closed. It was in the 90's that day. We beat the heat by toting a knapsack full of waters. 14,000 steps later we went to the Smithsonian American History and the Art Museums. The Art Museum to us was only okay but the American History Museum rocked. Great detail about all our wars, presidents, first lady's and the history of the star spangled banner. We learned a valuable lesson to better prepare where we're going before we go. And we did that for our Annapolis tour the next day.
Annapolis was our best stop. We started at City Dock and Main Street, downtown. We talked to a water taxi captain and made a plan. Although the plan swiftly changed when we walked into the nearby Naval Academy. We decided to take the 1PM tour of the Academy and boy-oh-boy was that a great call. Fantastic! Wonderful to hear the behind the scenes detail (See below). Then we took the water taxi over to Eastport. The Captain worked with my Sister and Brother-In-Law at the the Annapolis boat show for years. My aforementioned family worked it for 17 years and ran it for the last 7 or 8. Lunch was very tasty. Known for the crab cakes which Brad had...just, a little pricey ;0)
Till next week...and Thanks for following us! Kathy & Brad
