Our Travel Plan & Boy, Georgia's a Peach!

When we planned our trip we did so with three things in mind, besides of course, where we wanted to go. We wanted to travel no more than three hours per stop. Four hours at the most, and, we have probably cut that down to closer to two hours in between stops so far. We didn't want to be driving all day! We wanted to see America, not just drive through it. Granted, when we get to Montana and South Dakota and alike, there will be some 8 hour days driving but hopefully not more than a handful of those. We were also going to chase good weather based on the seasons and make sure we are never below freezing temperatures. Freezing is not good for an RV's water systems. Lastly, we planned our stops so we could be within an hour of any place we wanted to visit. So for instance in our upcoming seven day stay in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami we are staying in between both cities. Our campground is 30 minutes from Miami and 20 minutes from Lauderdale. This way we hub to each city by our car and the RV stays in the campground the entire time.

Savannah had a smooth southern style and was a cool combination of character, historic points of interest, beaches, restaurants and bars. The first day we got there we took our e-bikes to Forsythe Park. It was cool but no big woop. The fountain was pretty but we did the bike thing in like an hour so had to figure out what to do next.

So we headed towards the St. Johns River. When we don't know where to go we usually head towards the water. Things are always happening by the water. We got the bonus plan on this one and ran into the Riverwalk which was on our to-do list anyway. It's a bunch of restaurants, bars, stores and shops right on the river. You have to go twenty feet below the cities street level to get to it. We were there the rest of the afternoon and into the evening. We must have spent about five hours down there. Most of the places were a bit over-priced but, you pay for atmosphere.

The next day we took an on-again off-again trolley ride of historic Savannah. It was interesting, intriguing, and insightful but afterwards we both agreed we prefer doing our own thing. Our own touring, as opposed to taking a formal one. Below, we've captioned the pics so we don't bore you with all the detail. if you are interested you can hover over each picture and get some additional insight on each.

We took a cool bike ride in a Georgia state park in the town adjacent to Savannah. The town was called Richmond Hill. When we started on the ride Brad was thinking how he could hide the "Watch out for snakes and alligators" sign(See below). He couldn't, and didn't, and Kathy still soldiered on in spite of the sign. It was woodsy with loads of canals and a very heartfelt memorial to American fighting men and women who lost their lives in battle.

Below is a two minute video of our bike ride at the J.F. Gregory Park above. Please let us know if it sucks or if it was semi-entertaining.

Our last day in Savannah we went to Tybee Island which was about 40 minutes outside of the city. Boy was it worth the trip. FYI-We keep our beach chairs right in the back seat of our Ford Fusion...permanently. That day Brad made an awesome pair of shrimp salad sandwiches utilizing local caught shrimp. It was 84 degrees that day along with a beautiful breeze so it felt like 75 degrees.

Thanks for following us and thanks for reading down all the way to the end. Kathy & Brad.

Beautiful pics of Savannah. I just love all the pretty downtown homes with the trees draped in Spanish moss. Looks like after you enjoyed your afternoon below street level you also ended up “above it all“ with drinks on a rooftop terrace overlooking the river and the bridge beyond. Beautiful spot. My sister JUST excepted a position in Savannah. Now I’ll have more of a reason to visit more often.

the spectacular weather continues.….

Look at you producing video now - kudos for shooting in landscape mode like a pro instead of portrait mode like an amateur! one of the most inspiring videos I ever watched was a challenge to make 100 shitty videos. The guy said you will learn so much. He was right. Im still making shitty videos but I learn more and more with every one we release👍
